3 Layered Security System Wireless Mikrotik – Security (security) is crucial and must be considered when we build a network, especially wireless networks. Because wireless networks can be seen, known, and is accessible to anyone. So should we implement certain security systems on this wireless network.
There are at least three security systems that we can apply to the network Wireless Mikrotik , and all three can be applied simultaneously so that the level of security will be guaranteed. Here are 3 Layered Security System Wireless Mikrotik :
Hide SSID is an option in the Wireless Mikrotik to hide the SSID name of our Mikrotik. You can use this option in the menu Wireless -> WLAN -> Wireless tab.
So if this option is checked, then the Mikrotik its SSID will not appear on other devices if the scan. Will only appear as Hidden Network on Windows laptops.
Noteworthy if using Hide SSID SSID is the AP is required. Then the client must fill in the name of his AP SSID and set the same frequency with the AP to be Connect. So Frequency and SSID on the AP and the client should SAME.
Security Profile is one of the features on Mikrotik to add authentication method uses dynamic key encryption: WPA / WPA2 and static key: WAP. The use of encryption is recommended that WAP2 PSK + TKIP + aes con. To enter this feature can through menu Wireless -> Security Profiles.
And to activate the security profile is entered into the Wireless menu -> WLAN -> Wireless tab -> Security option Profile -> change the default with the Security Profile that has been made.
If the Security Profile using the Security Configuration Profile on AP and Client must be the same, if different then it will not be able to connect.
Access List and Connect List
Access List is a filter authentication is an AP (Access Point mode) the client is connected. With the Access List AP can filter which devices should / can connect to the AP based on its MAC address. So Access lists are used in the AP to determine the client is allowed to connect to the AP.
Connect List is a filter authentication is a wireless client (Station mode) to the AP in which you want to connect. Connect with the AP list can then be determined which can be connected to the client based on its MAC address. So Connect list used in the client to determine the client is going to connect to the AP which.
If you want to use this feature then we must uncheck the default option on the menu Authenticate Wireless tab. If not then this feature will not be activated.
